EH from nextdoor asked this practical question, thank you!
UCLA and NIH did a quick study investigating how long virus can be detected in certain scenarios:
- Aerosolized virus can be detected up to 3 hours in air
- 4 hours up to 3 days on surfaces depending on material
Please note viability does not tell us infectious ability.
Also, this study wasn’t peer reviewed. In this setting with such a dearth of information, all these data points are helpful, so let’s use this to make actionable decisions about importance of keeping workplaces regularly cleaned!
